Welcome to the website of SAKKOLA. Sakkola was a community in Finland by the lake Ladoga near the Russian border until the second world war. Altogether 420.000 Carelian people had to move into other parts of the country in 1944. The Sakkola Foundation has helped the residents of the former Sakkola to live in the new areas and to maintain the Carelian cultural heritage. | ||||||
